Francesca Amari

Francesca is a resident of Grand Rapids, MI. Despite the distance, she is a proud member of Chicago Cabaret Professionals, as well as being part of the distinguished Touring Artist Roster for Michigan Humanities Council & Heartland Arts Fund with her cabaret shows. In addition to performing her cabaret shows in Chicago, Colorado, New York and West Michigan, Francesca tours the Midwest with her trio, Boogie Woogie Babies, performing the three shows she created, Boogie Woogie Babies - the 1940s Revue ; Boogie Woogie Babies Boogie Down Broadway ; and their newest, Boogie Woogie Babies: Boogie, Beehives & Beyond! Francesca has trained in Colorado, Chicago and New York City and has appeared in several national and regional theatre productions. Shows include A…My Name is Alice , Pump Boys & Dinettes , You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown , and Beehive . She was a 2005 quarterfinalist in the prestigious American Traditions Competition, part of the Savannah Music Festival, which focuses on American composers. Francesca recently returned from NYC, where she sang with folk legend Christine Lavin at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club. She also spent time last summer in Steamboat Springs, CO, where she studied and performed with cabaret greats Karen Mason, Andrea Marcovicci, Shelly Markham, and Barry Kleinbort. An adjunct faculty member with Grand Valley State University, Francesca teaches Drama in Education, and has taught and directed children's theatre at Western Michigan University, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. |
